Lotto is an application designed for printing lotto cards as instructional aids for low level foreign language classes. Foreign words and sentences can be easily entered, edited, stored, and retrieved using a simple editor similar to many macintosh word processors.
• Requirements:
Lotto requires at least a Macintosh 512EK, system software 6.0 or greater, Finder or Multifinder, and a printer. I Have tested Lotto on a Macintosh Plus, Macintosh IIcx, Imagewriter II, and an HP Deskwriter without problems. If you have any Lotto/hardware compatibility problems please send me a note.
• Getting started:
To run Lotto you should be familiar with the basic Macintosh operations. It has been my attempt to make Lotto easy and straight foreword for the new user. After first running Lotto, you will be presented with an open window. Use this window to type your words or sentences for your lotto cards. Each line must be followed by a return and restricted to about 40 characters per line. Editing commands are similar to any Macintosh word processor: Cut, Copy, Paste, Clear, and Undo. Special characters may be used by typing the appropriate key combination followed by the letter which is standard for any macintosh application.
To Get: (for example) type:
grave accent(`) è option-` + e
acute accent(´) é option-e + e
circumflex(^) ô option-i + o
umlaut(¨) ï option-u + i
tilde(~) ã option-n + a
Use the desk accessory ‘Key Caps’ for all the possible foreign characters. When finished, select ‘Lotto’ under the Special window where you can choose the card size, card heading, free space, and page numbering. Make sure the printer is on and selected, then press print to begin. The words can be saved easily by selecting ‘Save as...’ in the File menu, and reopened by selecting ‘Open’ under the File menu.
• Registration:
Lotto is shareware. You are free to distribute and examine Lotto for 20 days. If you like Lotto and want to continue using the program, please send a check or money order of $20 (or what you think it's worth) to the address below. If you would like a disk along with your registration, please send $25. A registered copy of Lotto may only be run on one machine at one time. By registering you are entitled to any new updates and/or bug-fixes for free. If you do not register within 20 days you must erase all copies of Lotto. Thanks for supporting shareware!
